Real patient scans and curriculum based teaching

ScanTrainer is an educational tool that uses real patient scans and curriculum-based teaching across obstetrics, gynecology, general medicine, and emergency medicine.

Skills are taught and assessed at all levels, making it perfect for someone picking up the probe for the very first time, an expert learning advanced sonography skills, and everyone between.

ScanTrainer automatically marks performance based on our expert metrics, so trainees can self-learn in their own time, at their own pace.

Why learn with ScanTrainer?

Probe manipulation skills module

Helps trainees to learn to manipulate ultrasound probe and develop hand-eye coordination

Remote
management

Tutors and administrators have full access to set-up programmes and manage trainees

Realistic scanning experience with over 1000 real cases

ScanTutor

Our ‘virtual’ tutor, replicates learning with an expert in the room

Real-time assessment

Real patient scans

Full anatomy, real patient scans replicate what a student would see on a real ultrasound

Realistic scanning experience

ScanTrainer uses haptic devices alongside virtual patients with realistic landmarks to replicate multiple patient shapes. In this way, the system’s fifteen different virtual patients replaces the need for fifteen manikins.

Probe manipulation skills module

This interactive basic skills training module helps trainees to learn to manipulate the ultrasound probe and develop hand-eye coordination and 3D to 2D spatial awareness when interpreting image relationships. A series of engaging tests are then used both to teach and assess skills levels.

Real patient scans

Full anatomy real patient scans replicate what a student would see on a real ultrasound machine concurrent with ALL planes probe movement.

Remote learning

All students can access the e-learning remotely to ensure they can continue to learn whilst at home in preparation for their hands-on training.

Remote management

Tutors and administrators have full access to set-up programmes and manage trainee accounts at a time and place to suit them and their busy schedules.

ScanTutor

ScanTutor is our unique ‘virtual’ tutor, helping trainees learn how to acquire images, recognize structures, and make measurements correctly; replicating the experience of learning with an expert in the room.

Upload your own scans and create patient cases

Our case generator, available for systems on the cloud, enables tutors to upload their own scans and create their own patient cases, allowing further scanning opportunities for trainees and increased variety of abnormalities and pathology.

Learning Management System

A personalised platform through which users can easily access the extensive functionality of ScanTrainer. Tutors can use the LMS to keep track of trainees’ progress and set up customised learning programs, and trainees can use the LMS to access their modules and track their individual progress.

Learn diagnostic skills

ScanTrainer Examine brings all newly mastered theoretical and practical ultrasound skills together into an assessment tool to test students’ diagnostic skills.

Spectral Doppler in obstetrics

The new spectral Doppler for obstetrics module is a powerful tool to help prevent stillbirths. The module teaches how to make assessments of the uterine artery, umbilical artery, middle cerebral artery, and ductus venosus. Empowering teams to save babies’ lives by confidently spotting issues with fetal and placental circulation.

Since implementing ScanTrainer into our programs, not a single student has failed the transvaginal obstetrics and gynaecology module.
